KYBELLA is both a prescription medicine and an FDA-approved injectable treatment used to reduce submental fullness or the pocket of excess fat that sits beneath the chin. The active ingredient in KYBELLA is the synthetic version of deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid can already be found in its natural form inside your body, where it helps your digestive system break down and absorb the fats in your diet. When this molecule is injected into the area beneath your chin, it destroys the fat cells so they can no longer store or accumulate fat. Results include a substantial reduction in chin fullness, as well as an improved chin profile.
If your chin fat doesn’t seem to be affected by regular exercise or a wholesome diet, or if it makes you feel self-conscious, or look heavier or older than you actually are, KYBELLA may be just what you’re looking for. As the only FDA-approved injectable treatment for submental fullness, KYBELLA is a safe, effective, and non-invasive option for those looking to avoid surgery. KYBELLA may not be right for you if any of the following apply:
The safety and effectiveness of KYBELLA for anyone under age 18 is not established.
Because every patient is different, our team will create a customized treatment plan designed to address your specific needs. During each session, you’ll receive multiple small injections under your chin, a process that takes about 15-20 minutes. The exact number of injections you’ll receive depends on the amount of fat that’s being treated, as well as your desired profile. Many patients see visible results after two treatments, but you may receive as many as six treatments.
Treatment sessions are scheduled at least 4 weeks apart, and most patients achieve the results they’re looking for in 2-4 sessions. Common short-term side effects include swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, and redness. Once you’ve completed your treatment plan, you can expect permanent results that don’t require further upkeep.
